Comparative fault is when a plaintiff can be found partially at fault for an accident. Now a jury could find the plaintiff partially at fault. How that affects your case is if there's a trial, and a jury does find you a percentage at fault, it will reduce the amount of damages. I like to put it this way, if a jury awards $1 million but finds a plaintiff 20% at fault, the judge will reduce the verdict to $800,000 based on the formula of 20%.
